Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a very creative proposal for a good friend. Andrew Ecker is a teammate of mine and trains out of our school at McHugh Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. He's one of the most positive people I know and his attitude brightens up the whole room.
There were scattered storms that day, which can make someone a little nervous - Andrew did not once consider rescheduling. When it's time, it's time. Andrew decided he would propose to Erin at Independence Beer Garden in Philadelphia, PA. I'd never been there before and was blown away by the mood the decor set. You couldn't even tell the skies were gray.
The stringed lights and vibrant green hanging shrubs gave such a beautiful, uplifting feel to us all on such a cloudy day. It gave stunning accents that added such class to their photos.
The space was beautiful and little had to be moved to execute his idea. Andrew had, if I recall correctly, 16 posters with "Will you marry me?" written in different languages on them with a photograph of them together on each one. Each poster was held by family and close friends. Andrew held the last one at the end, written in English. After careful thought and rehearsing, it went perfectly.
It was so beautiful. Her parents met her when her ride dropped her off, and they led her to these gorgeous green arches where she realized what was about to happen. Erin took her time reading, processing, and admiring each poster held by a loved one.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
The bride-to-be celebrates with lots of hugs.
Truly an honor to catch this beautiful moment. Thank you so much Andrew and Erin. Congratulations!!
